Mission Statement:

We continually strive to be a great company that offers outpatient therapy. Love the Journey is committed to providing high-quality services to our clients. Moreover, our efforts extend beyond providing outstanding services to those who need them. Let's be honest, getting help can feel scary, but know that at Love the Journey, you will be accepted exactly where you are without judgment. Our goal is helping you reach your goals in a safe, comforting and caring environment.  We will listen to you, and make your priorities ours as well.

We can help with anxiety, behavioral concerns, children and teen issues, communication skills, depression, parenting issues, physical abuse, sexual abuse, stress management, transitions, and trauma.

 

Lori Petersen:

Lori Petersen, MS LMFT, opened Love the Journey because she loves helping people exactly where they are in life's journey. Lori earned her bachelor's degree from The College of St. Scholastica, in business management and organizational behavior. Several years later, Lori continued her education and earned her Master of Science in Human Development with a specialization in marriage and family therapy. Lori is currently working towards attaining her PhD in Advanced Human Services and has successfully completed cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) intensive training . 

Lori enjoys seeing a range of people and families. Lori worked with mostly teens for several years, but now she works with people as young as 3. Lori also works with the elderly and everywhere between. She helps with depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and PTSD, along with several others.

Some of Lori's hobbies include coaching youth baseball, volunteering at her church and spending time with friends and family.

 

Krista McFarland:

Krista has been at Love the Journey since June 2016.

Krista earned both her Bachelors and Master in Social Work at Saint Cloud State. Krista has been working in the social services and therapeutic field in direct service since 1998.  Krista has worked in various components and has a competent understanding and experience of varied system roles and is able to connect clients with resources.  Krista has vast experience, education, and previous work in domestic abuse, sexual abuse/assault, adolescent issues, chemical health, eating disorders, family systems, and poverty components, and self-sufficiency and educational challenges.  Krista enjoys working with individuals and families along the journey of life. Krista has had a myriad of trainings and incorporates many concepts into the therapeutic experience to meet each individual client’s needs. 

Krista has specific interest in assisting adolescents and adults who are navigating issues with domestic violence/sexual assault, PTSD, anxiety, depression, ODD, and arrays of other issues that may prevent individuals from experiencing the full capacities of their lives.  Krista recognizes the challenges that individuals may face when entering therapy and strives to provide individuals with a client-centered approach to meet their goals and needs in the therapeutic realm.

Some of Krista's hobbies include, baking, running, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends. 

 

Benjamin Coleman

Ben began working at Love the Journey in August 2019.  Ben earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Concordia University, St. Paul and later received his Master's in Counseling degree from the Townsend Institute at Concordia University, Irvine.  Ben has worked in the field of mental health for 7 years.

Ben has a strong Christian foundation from years of working in the ministry.  Ben has a passion for working with youth and families.  Ben also works with individuals seeking mental health counseling.  Ben works with individuals who experience depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, as well as works with couples who are seeking marriage counseling, premarital counseling, co-parenting skills, and other forms of family counseling.  

Ben's hobbies include serving the church in many ministry capacities.  He loves music and playing guitar.  He enjoys spending time with friends and family, hunting, fishing, and many other activities.

 

Kate Erdmann

Kate has been working at Love the Journey since March 2020.  She earned bachelor's degrees in both Psychology and Biology in 2007 from the University of Wisconsin and a Master's in Anthrozoology from Canisius College in 2013.  Kate graduated with her MS in Mental Health Counseling in December of 2019 and is currently working towards licensure under the clinical supervision of Nancy Hertz, MA, LMFT.

Kate enjoys working with individuals seeking mental health counseling for depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, as well as couples and families seeking help.  She is client-centered, solutions-focused and uses an integrative approach.  Kate is committed to helping people increase their comfort by recognizing unexpressed emotions and increasing awareness of how their thoughts and beliefs impact their lives.

Kate's hobbies include training and showing dogs.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, spending time with friends and family, and anything that active that includes her dogs.
